Important Considerations

Mosquito Protection

While your beds have mosquito nets, bring long-sleeved shirts and pants for evenings. The Black Volta riverside can have mosquitoes during dusk and dawn. Pack DEET-based repellent and consider permethrin-treated clothing.

Water Activities Safety

You'll be swimming in the sea, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. Pack multiple swimwear sets, water shoes for rocky areas, and a quick-dry towel. Consider a waterproof phone pouch for photos during canoe trips.

🌿 Farm & Hiking Gear Walking through native farms and mountain biking requires closed-toe shoes, long pants option, and sun protection. Pack moisture-wicking socks and consider gaiters for ankle protection during hikes.

🎯 Ayahuasca Preparation Bring comfortable, loose-fitting white or natural-colored clothing for ceremonies. Avoid synthetic fabrics. Pack a light blanket or shawl for comfort during sessions.

What NOT to Pack

  • Heavy jeans or thick fabrics (too hot and slow to dry)

  • Expensive jewelry (simple items only for ceremonies)

  • White clothing for outdoor activities (will get dirty)

  • Leather shoes (will be damaged by water/humidity)

  • Too many electronics (embrace the digital detox)

  • Single-use plastics (be environmentally conscious)

  • Strong perfumes/scents (can interfere with plant medicine work)

Final Packing Tips

Pack light - you'll want room for local crafts and memories

🌱 Choose natural, breathable fabrics over synthetics

💝 Consider bringing small gifts for your hosts and facilitators

📋 Make copies of important documents and store separately
