The most Frequently Asked Question to Ayahuasca: What is my Purpose ?

Before you sit in ceremony, you're asked to set an intention, or a list of intentions. This means asking yourself:
- What you want to let go of.
- What you want to understand.
- & what you want to bring into your life.
These intentions connect you to the core of what needs changing in your life. They are a doorway you open before the medicine begins its work. It's a signal to the plant, to spirit, to your ancestors: *this is what I'm ready to look at.
And across ten years of holding space, one question rises above all others:
"What is my purpose?"
It makes sense. We live in a world that has severed so many of us from divination, from lineage, from land, from the rhythms that once told people exactly who they were and what they were here to do. There was a time when purpose was not a mystery to be solved alone in the dark. It was named for you — by elders, by the stars & signs under which you were born, by the family line you carried, by the community that watched you grow and reflected back what they saw in you. That knowing has been stripped from so many of us. Colonisation did not only take land, resources and language — it took the systems that once told a person who they were before they even had to ask.
So we come to the medicine for the answer.
Why This Question
In almost every ceremony I've held, "what is my purpose" arrives early — often as someone's very first intention. It's usually not really about a career, or a calling in the way the West likes to package it into a job title or a five-year plan. It's deeper than that. It's a person standing at the edge of their own life asking:
why am I here, and why does it feel like I've missed the reason?*
Here's what I've innerstood, ceremony after ceremony: purpose is what's revealed once you clear what's been blocking it all along.
It's rarely handed over as a single sentence, a vision, a voice that tells you plainly what to do with your life. Sacred Ayahuasca is not in the business of shortcuts. It clears so you can see and know for yourself.
The Story Underneath the Question
Every person who asks "what is my purpose" is really carrying a different story — a childhood that taught them to shrink, a trauma that taught them safety meant invisibility, an ancestral wound passed down before they were even born, inherited in the body long before it had language. A disconnection from immediate responsibilities that, if not handled, will lead to much greater losses than is being experienced now.
These are the things that stand between a person and the life they were meant to live. Not because purpose is hidden somewhere far away, but because the path to it has been overgrown — by fear, by grief, by the survival patterns we built when we were too young to know we were building them.
The medicine clears a path to the answer. It takes you through, and it heals, what's been keeping you out of alignment with your purpose. Then it shows you what you must now do.
This is why the process can feel less like receiving an answer and more like remembering something you already knew — because in many ways, you did. Purpose isn't manufactured in ceremony. It's uncovered. What ceremony does is remove what's been sitting on top of it.
Why No Two Journeys With The Same Question Look the Same
That's why no two purpose journeys look the same. Yours will not look like mine. It will not look like the person next to you in circle, even if you are siblings, best friends or partners.
The medicinemeets you exactly where your life has left you — and shows you, piece by piece, what stands between you and the person you already are underneath it all. For one person, that might mean confronting a relationship with a parent. For another, it might mean grieving a version of themselves they abandoned to survive. For someone else, it might mean finally listening to an ancestor who has been trying to speak for years.
This is sacred, individual work. There is no template for it.
Your Purpose Was Never Lost
It's just been waiting for you to clear the path back to it.
Integrating The Experience
At the end of the ceremony, we hold our first integration meeting. We'll talk through what you saw, heard, felt, understood, and did not understand — and together we'll analyse it, to uncover the lessons, the healings, the information, and the work you now have to do.
This is where the work starts.
